FEELING WORDS TO AVOID WHEN COMMUNICATING
(BECAUSE THEY DESCRIBE WHAT
WE THINK OTHERS ARE DOING TO US)
(OKAY TO USE IN JOURNALING)

abandoned bullied diminished manipulated
abused  cheated distrusted misunderstood
attacked coerced interrupted neglected
betrayed co-opted intimidated overworked
boxed-in cornered let down patronized
threatened unwanted provoked unappreciated
used put-down unheard rejected
unseen

FEELINGS WORDS TO USE

Feelings when our needs are being met:

affectionate blissful confident excited
alert breathless contented free
alive calm delighted friendly
amazed carefree eager fulfilled
appreciative cheerful elated glad
aroused comfortable encouraged grateful
happy joyous perky tender
helpful loving proud thankful
hopeful mellow refreshed touched
inspired moved relieved upbeat
interested optimistic secure warm
intrigued peaceful splendid wonderful

Feelings when our needs are not being met:

afraid beat cold disenchanted
agitated bewildered concerned disgusted
alarmed bitter confused dismayed
angry blah cross displeased
anxious bored depressed disturbed
ashamed brokenhearted despondent edgy
embarrassed furious hostile lazy
exasperated guilty hot lonely
exhausted heavy impatient mad
fearful helpless irate mean
frightened hesitant jealous miserable
frustrated horrible jittery nervous
numb repelled shaky suspicious
overwhelmed resentful shocked terrified
panicky restless skeptical uncomfortable
passive sad sleepy weary
pessimistic scared sorry withdrawn
reluctant sensitive startled worried

Expressing actual feelings is different than statements which describe thoughts, assessments and interpretation.
